What is Included in Champagne Wine Tastings

While many winemakers across the world make fabulous sparking wines, there’s nothing like saying you’ve had real Champagne during your visit in France.

On this tour, expect a late morning flute to toast at Moët & Chandon. Later in the day, a refreshing stop at Mumm includes another glass to cheers to a wonderful day in the Champagne wine region. At both wineries, you will meet winemakers and staff who you can tell you more about what makes their cellar unique.

What to Expect on this Champagne Region Tour

After pick-up at your Paris hotel or prearranged location, join your licensed guide-driver for a splendid day to discover the colorful vineyards of the Champagne region that produce some of the world’s most prestigious wines.

Cheers over morning bubbles at Moët & Chandon

It takes about 1.5 hours from Paris to get to your first stop of the day: the cellars of the Champagne house, Moët & Chandon. Here linger over a glass of Champagne and enjoy a conversation with your guide and the members of the Moët & Chandon team, and learn more about winemaking techniques and what makes the wine of this part of France so special.

Enjoy a leisurely visit to the village of Hautvillers

You will travel through the stunning Montagne de Reims area, making a stop in the village Hautvillers, which is known as the “Cradle of Champagne,” and a most attractive hamlet. Here, a seventh-century abbey even houses the tombstone of the monk, Dom Perignon.

After learning a bit about the area from your guide, take some time to yourself to have lunch in one of the local restaurants. (The lunch is not included in the price, but your guide can offer lunch recommendations.)

Spend an afternoon in Reims

In the afternoon, you will have the chance to spend some free time in Reims, the historic and youthful capital of the Champagne region, and the site of 25 coronations of French kings.

You will visit the spectacular Gothic-style Reims Cathedral with some 800 years of history and unforgettable architectural details like the luminous stained-glass window painted by Marc Chagall in 1974. It is here that the crownings of many French kings occurred, including Charles VII, in the presence of Joan of Arc, in 1429.

After being bombed during World War I, the Reims Cathedral was completely rebuilt thanks to the donations of John D. Rockefeller.

End the day with a toast at the Mumm cellar

Finally, you will visit a second-famous Champagne house, Mumm. Here you will learn about the process of making the “Nectar of Kings.”

After this fabulous private visit, your guide-driver will take you back to Paris and drop you off at your residence.
