Versailles Skip-the-Line Tickets

On this private guided tour, you will get priority access with skip-the-line tickets so you do not have to wait in the public admission queue to get in. This will help you avoid crowds and enjoy more time at Versailles, in areas including the King’s State Apartment, the Royal Chapel, the Hall of Mirrors and the gardens.

What to Expect on This Versailles Tour

After pick-up from your designated location in Paris, enjoy a short ride to the Palace of Versailles to discover one of the most famous attractions in the world. Louis XIV, the Sun King, turned what was once the hunting lodge of Louis XIII into a sumptuous estate designed in a style that is, to this day, hard to match in extravagance.

See the sights at your pace

You will admire the Royal Chapel as well as the State Apartment of Louis XIV, a series of seven rooms where we would host guests that included royalty. Expect to see the notable Apollo Room, the Mercury Room, and the Hercules Room. You’ll have the option upon booking to customize your tour in a way that caters to your interests and (or) accessibility needs.

After the State Apartment, your guide will lead you to the breathtaking Hall of Mirrors. After this amazing visit, you will have free time to discover the beautiful French-style gardens with 55 fountains on your own before lunch.

Linger over lunch at La Flottille

A promenade leads from the palace to the Grand Canal, where you will have a 3-course lunch (included in the price) at the historical restaurant La Flottille. Parismatic is the only tour operator that can guarantee a fully customized menu, so please be ready to order what you want! This meal includes a starter, main course, wine, dessert, and coffee.

You have the option of enjoying a leisurely 15-minute walk to La Flottille, or riding there in your provided transportation with your guide.

Admire Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon

After lunch, your guide will take you to visit two other palaces on the property known as Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon. As the main palace became very busy, Louis XIV needed another place to escape from the crowds. That retreat became Grand Trianon, constructed with pastel-pink marble.

The palace is a masterpiece of Neoclassical architecture. You will also discover Louis XIV’s gift to his Queen Marie Antoinette, the Petit Trianon estate. This hamlet hosts another spectacular garden. Expect lesser-known history and tales about these attractions from your expert guide.

When to Go for the Fountain Shows of Versailles

From April through November, you can enjoy the majestic fountain shows across the gardens. During this time, all of our Versailles tours allow time to visit the gardens and see the fountains, but booking in the spring or summer ensures more musical events and the opportunity to see the fountains turned on.

Typically the musical fountain shows in the Versailles gardens run every Saturday and Sunday, with special dates including every Tuesday from early April to mid May, and again from late June to late October in 2021.

Check the official schedule of the Musical Fountains Show for additional information. Please note these dates are subject to change.

Awesome Versailles Tour

I think our guide, Fred Khighatian, should be writing books instead of giving tours. We weren’t 100 yards from our hotel before Fred started sharing his detailed knowledge of the surrounding area, and our Versailles destination. We were most impressed because Fred has been doing this for 22 years and still has a passion that was evident in anything he spoke about. His detailed stories of Louis XIV court life at Versailles was especially entertaining. This was our second visit to Versailles, but I got more out of Fred than all the guide books combined. If you’re touring Paris and Versailles, we would highly recommend Fred; he made the difference between a good trip and a great one!

Perfection outside of Paris

Our full day guided tour of Versailles and Giverny was a great value.
Fred, our guide from Prismatic Tours, was professional, well-informed, energetic and witty. The best day tour you can get. Within 50 meters of our hotel he began educating the four of us and didn’t stop until we returned. Both sites were unique and special.
