Being a hunting-lodge of Louis XIII it was Louis XIV who turned it into sumptuous estate. From 1682-1789 Versailles was the seat and the symbol of Absolute monarchy.

A promenade leads from the palace to the Grand Canal, where you will have a lunch break (not included) in one of the domain’s restaurants.

After lunch, your guide will take you to visit two other palaces called Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon used like private ones.

As along the time the main palace became very busy, Louis XIV needed another place to escape from the crowds. That one became Grand Trianon made from pastel-pink marble.

Later Louis XV not far from that one built another one for Madame de Pompadour which finally as a gift from Louis XVI on his accession to the throne passed to Marie Antoinette

The palace which is a masterpiece of Neo-classical architecture. You will also discover the Queen’s Hamlet, a stylised Norman village which made her English garden so famous.

Wonderful Tour with Fred!

Our tour guide with Parismatic was Fred. He was on time and friendly from the start. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to provide information on everything as we left Paris (even when it wasn’t related to the tour itself). His vehicle was clean, comfortable, and high tech. It was obvious as we approached Giverny and later Versailles that Fred had scheduled our time well. We avoided the large crowds at both locations and had a lovely visit (this was a contrast to the last time we went to Versailles that was so crowded you couldn’t stop to take pictures). Fred reserved our lunch spot for us while we walked around Giverny and we had a coveted umbrella spot outside on the patio to view the flowers. This was a wonderful experience and I would most definitely do it again! Everything was taken care of, he picked us up and dropped us off, the tour was private and filled with all the knowledge you need, and there was plenty of time to just enjoy yourself in the gardens of both places. This was crafted to be the best experience one could have!

Versailles & Giverny Private Guided Tour

Our wonderful guide Fred (Viator Co.) picked us up at our hotel and gave us the best tour ever. He was a walking encyclopedia! He had so much enthusiasm and made our tour so enjoyable. We were able skip lines and save the time to see everything. Versailles is a must on your trip and the only way is a private tour.

Tour Versailles like a King or Queen with Parismatic Tour via Euroscope Paris

The grandeur and beauty of the Palace of Versailles is unmatched and as the second most visited monument in all of France behind the Eiffel Tower we expected it to be crowded. It was. Our guided tour with Fred Khighatian founder of Parismatic Tour was exceptional. Fred picked us up at our hotel on time, introduced himself, and drove us to the Palace in a new Mercedes van. Our small group of six entered a side entrance at 9:30 a.m. skipping the line of visitors 100 meters long waiting to enter the Palace at the Main Gate. Fred provided each of us a small receiver and an ear bud so we could hear everything he related over the next two hours as we moved from room to room. He told us in great detail about the life of the Royal family, significant events, paintings, sculptures, furniture, secret passages, noble visitors, daily life at the palace, and many other historical details. We completed our tour with a walk to view the spectacular and enormous gardens and the return trip to our hotel. The door-to-door personal service, the skip the line access, and Fred’s personal attention and expert knowledge made the tour a great experience and worth every penny.

Loved this personalized experience!

Our family — two adults, plus 12- and 10-year-old sons — got so much out of this tour. We felt like Fred taught us a French history class in addition to everything about Versailles, in the best possible way; it put Versailles into a larger context, and he did so in a way that even the children got something out of it. He was skilled at avoiding some of the larger crowds within Versailles whenever possible as well. We also appreciated being picked up and dropped off again right at our hotel, along with getting to skip the entry line that was incredibly long even in late November. I’d recommend this tour to anyone, including families, who want to see Versailles and learn an incredible amount about it without being just another visitor in one of the enormous groups.
